RECKLESS DRIVING
Reckless driving is defined as driving “in reckless disregard for the safety of persons or property” O.C.G.A. §40-6-390. Reckless driving can include excessive speeding, aggressive lane changes, following too close, and other dangerous driving behaviors.
Reckless driving is considered to be a misdemeanor criminal offense and is punishable by up to 12 months in jail and maximum fine of $1,000. You will be required to report that you have been convicted of a crime on employment applications and other forms. Additionally, you will have 4 points added to your driving record. If you were under the age of 21 at the time of the offense, your license will automatically be suspended.
